Course Content

This course covers:
Pattern adaptation: Altering patterns to suit your size and shape
Design and style: Exploring design principles and choosing styles that complement you
Sewing techniques: Mastering a variety of sewing techniques for garment construction
Garment fitting: Fitting your garment during the making-up process
Upcycling and repurposing: Skills to upcycle, repurpose, mend or refit garments.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for this course you must be 19 or over on 31st August prior to the course start date.

Previous sewing experience is necessary.
You must be familiar with threading a sewing machine.
You should know how to work with simple commercial patterns.
Experience of fitting garments would be an advantage but is not essential.

Assessment Methods

There's no formal assessment. However, the tutor will provide one-to-one feedback, and we'll have group discussions to share our learning. After this course, you could explore more advanced clothes making techniques or specialise in a particular area of garment construction.
