Want to take your glasswork to the next level? This course helps you deepen your skills in kiln-formed glass. You'll explore advanced techniques like fusing, slumping, and casting. Experiment with different materials, colours, and textures. With expert guidance, you'll push your creative boundaries and develop your own style. This course is perfect for those with some glass experience who want to create functional or sculptural pieces.
Course Content
This course covers:
Each term we will explore one or two techniques further.
You will be encouraged to develop your ideas further and discuss your ideas and designs with the group.
You will be able to develop your skills within all areas of kilnformed glass including, but not limited to, fusing and slumping, casting, pate de verre and finishing.
You will be introduced to different techniques that you will be able to explore further in your own project.
You will gain a deeper understanding of how to design for glass and learn how to explore techniques to produce your desired outcome.
You will be able to develop your own projects with guidance.
You will learn different methods of developing your ideas into glass pieces
You will work on a self set project for the 2nd half of the term and discuss the aims with your tutor to come up with some achievable personal targets.
Entry Requirements
To be eligible for this course you must be 19 or over on 31st August prior to the course start date.
Suitable for students who have some experience in glass.
You should be interested in expanding your knowledge of kilnformed glass techniques.
You should be interested in developing your own ideas and designs further.
First Class Requirements
Bring a sketchbook, with any ideas you already have and pen as well as any tools and glass you would like to use. It is advisable that you wear workshop clothes.
Throughout the course you will need a P3 mask
There is an additional cost for materials and firings.

Additional Information
Please note there is an additional cost of approx. £50 - £100 for materials on this course.
You will be required to pay for materials that you use from the college and for your firing. Details will be given out at the first class and prices will be dependent on materials used and size of work. You may also bring in your own glass, clay or wax etc should you wish to, however there is no storage on site for materials unless they are purchased from the college.
Please allow 15 minutes at the end of the class to tidy up after yourself and leave the room
No food or drink is allowed in the studio, a hub area nearby is available for snacks and drinks.
