You'll improve your grammar, vocabulary, and all four key skills: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. This course is perfect for those who want to enhance their everyday English or prepare for exams like IELTS or Cambridge First Certificate (FCE). We'll provide the support you need to succeed!
Course Content
This course covers:
Grammar: Practice of all main grammar areas (e.g. tenses, modals, conditionals, passives).
Vocabulary: Learning through topics (e.g. environment, crime, work, leisure).
Reading: Using a wide range of text types and tasks for comprehension and information retrieval.
Listening: Developing skills through various text types and tasks.
Writing: Planning and organising different writing styles (e.g. essays, articles, formal letters).
Speaking: Practicing on a range of topics and using new grammar and vocabulary.
Entry Requirements
To be eligible for this course you must be 19 or over on 31st August prior to the course start date.
Attend an Advice and Guidance session to assess your English level.
Be a competent user of English (ESOL L1/2).
Have an overall band grade of 5-6 in IELTS (English Language Testing System) or equivalent.
Be confident in speaking, listening, reading, and writing in English, despite some grammar inaccuracies.
Be able to use and understand quite complex language, particularly in familiar situations.
First Class Requirements
To successfully complete this course, you must commit to 100% attendance and punctuality.
Assessment Methods
Your progress will be assessed through a folder of work and an Individual Learning Plan (ILP). Your tutor will mark the work you produce throughout the course. This course can prepare you for further studies, such as IELTS or Cambridge FCE exams.
