Do you want to improve your writing skills and gain a recognised qualification? This 3-month ESOL Entry Level 1 Writing course is designed to help you write simple sentences, improve your punctuation and grammar, and expand your vocabulary. You'll learn from experienced teachers in a supportive, adult-only environment. This course is perfect for anyone looking to boost their confidence in English and open doors to new opportunities and jobs.
Course Content
This course covers:
Learn new English language and vocabulary you can use when writing
Write simple sentences with everyday words and phrases
Use some basic grammar such as nouns and verbs and verb tenses
Write using some basic punctuation
Develop your study skills and improve your English to the standard required to pass the Entry 1 writing exam
Write a variety of everyday texts accurately and fluently
Entry Requirements
To be eligible for this course you must be 19 or over on 31st August prior to the course start date.
We offer ESOL courses at all levels, from Pre-Entry to Level 2.
Before starting, you'll take an English language assessment to ensure you're placed at the right level for this writing course.
First Class Requirements
Please bring a folder to keep your work in, a black or blue pen, and a lined notepad of paper.
Attendance Requirements
To successfully complete this course, you must commit to 100% attendance and punctuality.
Assessment Methods
Your teacher will assess your progress throughout the course. If you're ready, you'll take an Entry Level 1 writing assessment at the end of the course, accredited by an external awarding organisation. Successful completion can lead to further ESOL study at a higher level.
Further Study Options
After this course, you can continue to study on our ESOL Speaking & Listening or Reading courses.
You can progress through the ESOL levels up to Level 2.
When you have finished your ESOL course you may want to progress into the wider programme offer at RHACC including Cambridge Certificate courses, GCSE English courses and our range of vocational and leisure courses.
We will also provide support with applying to university and careers guidance to help you decide on your options following the completion of the programme.
