ESOL Entry Level- Improve Your Reading

This course will help you to improve your language skills in the following areas:

·Build confidence in reading
·Practice reading basic sentences
·Build your language and vocabulary

You will learn in an adult-only environment from teachers with English language teaching experience.

Improving your English and getting an ESOL qualification can help you with your future and to get a job.

Course Content

You will work on improving your English language skills for everyday use in life and work. You will focus on improving your reading skills in the following areas:

·Building confidence in reading
.Practicing reading in simple situations, for example, reading forms and other documents with basic information
·Build your language and vocabulary while reading

You will also learn to develop your study skills and improve your confidence in your general English language skills.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for this course you must be 19 or over on 31st August prior to the course start date.

We have courses at all levels of the Adult ESOL Curriculum from Pre-Entry (for complete beginners) and Entry Level up to Level 2. We will help you find the correct level for you before you start your course.

Before you start this course, you need to take an English language assessment to help us put you in the right level of your course.

First Class Requirements

Please bring a folder to keep your work in, a black or blue pen, and a lined notepad of paper.

Attendance Requirements

To successfully complete this course, you must commit to 100% attendance and punctuality.

Assessment Methods

This is not an exam based course. Your English skills will be assessed and developed through a folder of work and the use of an ILP (Individual Learning Plan). Your evidence, or work - which you produce as you progress through the course - will be gathered in and marked by your tutor.

Further Study Options

After this course, you can continue to study on our ESOL Speaking & Listening or Writing courses.
You can progress through the ESOL levels up to Level 2.

When you have finished your ESOL course you may want to progress into the wider programme offer at RHACC including Cambridge Certificate courses, GCSE English courses and our range of vocational and leisure courses.

We will also provide support with applying to university and careers guidance to help you decide on your options following the completion of the programme.
