Is English not your first language? Our ESOL Pre-Entry 2 class is designed for complete beginners with no prior English skills. In this friendly class, you'll learn to speak, read and write simple English for everyday conversations. You'll also start reading and writing simple texts and personal information. You will develop basic listening and speaking skills, build your vocabulary and grammar, and grow your confidence in using English in daily life. You'll also learn basic numeracy in English.
Course Content
This course covers:
Introduction to basic listening and speaking skills
Introduction to reading and writing skills
Building vocabulary and grammar
Building confidence in using English in daily life situations
Understanding basic numeracy in English contexts
Entry Requirements
To be eligible for this course you must be 19 or over on 31st August prior to the course start date.
This is not an exam-based course.
Your English skills will be assessed and developed through a portfolio of work.
You will use an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) to track your progress.
Your tutor will gather and mark your work as you progress through the course.
First Class Requirements
When you come along to your first class you should bring along an A4 writing pad, a black/blue pen, highlighters and a ring binder folder. You will also follow a class reading book which you can purchase second hand or borrow from a library.
Attendance Requirements
To successfully complete this course, you must commit to 100% attendance and punctuality.
Assessment Methods
Your progress will be assessed by your tutor through your portfolio of work and your ILP. If your teacher feels you are ready, you will be able to progress to the next level ESOL course.
Further Study Options
After this course you can continue to study on our ESOL Reading, Writing or Speaking & Listening courses at Entry Level. You can progress through the ESOL levels up to Level 2.
