Want to take your sculpture skills to the next level? This enjoyable course is designed to help you improve your observation and confidently respond to the clay. You'll be encouraged to plan and create finished pieces in fired clay, ready for exhibiting. This course is perfect for intermediate to advanced sculptors looking to refine their techniques and create high-quality artwork.
Course Content
This course covers:
Develop your figure and portraiture techniques in clay, working from a life model
Explore different expressive and experimental approaches to modelling
Learn how to develop a variety of textures in clay
Learn how to assess and measure proportions of the human figure
Learn how to colour or glaze your finished fired work
Entry Requirements
To be eligible for this course you must be 19 or over on 31st August prior to the course start date.
No formal entry requirements are necessary.
Some experience of creating sculpture would be beneficial, as this is an intermediate level course.
First Class Requirements
Please attend and be on time for the first lesson as it will cover a lot of basic information. Please also bring an apron, sketchbook and pen. You may have already got some tools to bring along too. If not, this equipment will be provided.
On the first day of the course, the tutor will inform you of any materials that may be required for this course.
Attendance Requirements
To successfully complete this course, you must commit to aim for 100% attendance and punctuality.
Assessment Methods
Your progress will be assessed through Personal Learning Plans (PLPs) and regular discussions with your tutor. You'll track your practice through written notes and tutor feedback, gauging your progression throughout the course.
Additional Information
Please note there is an additional cost of approx. £50 - £100 for materials on this course.
No food or drink is allowed in the studio; a hub area nearby is available for snacks and drinks.
