Want to take your film production skills to the next level? This Level 2 qualification is designed to help you develop your skills in film production and video editing. You'll be introduced to the world of digital video and learn how to plan, storyboard, capture and edit a film to a high standard. This course is perfect for those seeking employment, freelancers who need video content, or anyone wanting to pursue further studies in film.

Course Content

This course covers:
Introduce to Digital Video - products, purpose, video standards, formats
Be able to research for a film or video
Plan pre-production
Be able to undertake a film project
Camera Techniques with relevant health and safety procedures
Record and test video
Be able to reflect on your own film produced

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for this course you must be 19 or over on 31st August prior to the course start date.

You will need to have a good level of English to understand instructions with some technical vocabulary.
You will need to provide material that demonstrates techniques learned.
You will need to communicate clearly with the tutor and participate in classroom discussions.
You will need to complete written assignments.
You will need to be able to use a keyboard, mouse and computer with confidence, as well as open a new document, save and file it in a folder.
Ideally, you will have already completed previous courses using Adobe creative software.
There will be an interview to ensure that the course will meet your needs.
If you are new to the college, you may be advised to first enrol on an alternative course before committing to a qualification. This is to help fully assess both your commitment and your motivation to complete an accredited course whereby the completion of coursework is required.

First Class Requirements

Pen, paper and a memory stick for saving work electronically.
Your own DSLR or a modern smartphone with good video capture capabilities.

Attendance Requirements

As this is a qualification based course you need to have 100% attendance.
Developing creative and digital media skills is an ongoing process and the exercises are built upon your progress week by week.

Assessment Methods

This qualification is gained by producing a portfolio which is produced from class based exercises with ongoing feedback provided by the tutor. This is assessed by the tutor and the final portfolio is then reviewed by an external moderator to verify the qualification.
