Planning a trip to France? Want to learn some French but unsure where to start? This short, fun, and interactive introductory course is perfect for you. It will give you a taste of the language and introduce you to key vocabulary and expressions. You'll gain the confidence to start conversations with native speakers. If you are a Carer, please visit reception to see if you are eligible for support.
Course Content
This course covers:
Greet someone in French and ask how they are
Introduce yourself and understand simple information
Order in a cafe using simple food and drink vocabulary
Recognise famous French landmarks and say where they are located
Basic rules of pronunciation and grammar (including verb conjugation and definite and indefinite articles)
Entry Requirements
To be eligible for this course you must be 19 or over on 31st August prior to the course start date.
This course is for complete beginners.
No previous knowledge of French is required.
It's also suitable if you studied French at a beginner level a long time ago and want a refresher.
First Class Requirements
Please bring a pen and paper or your electronic device if preferred.
Attendance Requirements
Regular attendance is advisable to ensure maximum progress.
Assessment Methods
You'll discuss your goals with the tutor, who will assess your progress through in-class observation and activities. You will record your progress in your Personal Learning Plan (PLP). After this course, you can join Beginners French Stage 1 or 2.

Further to completing this course, you can join Beginners French Stage 1 or 2.
Additional Information
Some literacy, numeracy and IT skills can help you learn a language. We can give you guidance and support to acquire these. Please bring a pen and paper or your electronic device if preferred. Regular attendance is advisable to ensure maximum progress.
