This hardware and networking course is underpinned by CISCO academy materials from IT Essentials you will develop an understanding of hardware and networking concepts in this intensive course which will also give you an opportunity to gain a certificate from CISCO.
Course Content
Units delivered as part of this course are: Hardware and Software, Computer Networks, Collaborative Working Using Digital Technology, Digital Safety and Security, Visual Programming.
You will learn the practical skills of computer assembly, repair, building a basic network, developing a basic application to simulate a network, basic cyber security and learn techniques for online collaborative working. All students are given a CISCO academy account which also enables them access to free online courses and the option to take an external exam with CISCO certification.
Entry Requirements
To be eligible for this course you must be 19 or over on 31st August prior to the course start date.
Entry is by tutor approval only. Students should have a basic knowledge of ICT systems and/or may already work within the IT industry. Learners will need a good standard of literacy and numeracy prior to considering this course. You will need a minimum of Level 1 in English to follow the instructions and complete the skills assessments.
If you are new to the college, you may be advised to first enrol on an alternative course before committing to a qualification. This is to help fully assess both your commitment and your motivation to complete an accredited course whereby the completion of coursework is required.

Through Practical work and written reports.
