For experienced intermediate photographers wanting to further refine their skills, knowledge and understanding in photography while building up a selection of photographic work responding to different projects themes and subjects. This course will push your abilities into an advanced level and provide you with the opportunity to pursue access routes to photography courses in higher education or support the professionalism of your photographic practice.

Course Content

Explore and refine your abilities in urban landscape and street photography, portrait photography using state of the art studio lighting facilities and gain greater control and understanding of using professional photographic editing software Adobe Light Room. Gain a better understanding of ways to present, exhibit and curate your photographs either digitally or print to best showcase your work. You will explore photography alongside your peers and further refine your abilities to communicate, analyse and critique photographs to help improve your confidence in showcasing your

Course Outcomes

An understanding of the value of photography as a tool for creative activity and how to use it effectively different situations.

Develop a range of photographic skills appropriate to the support of creative activity

Develop a critical and analytical approach to your photographic practice

Refine your awareness of the different contexts, approaches and disciplines of photography

As part of this course, you will be able to use the professional standard photography studio and equipment. You will also be able to access and use all Adobe Creative Cloud software and applications for the duration of this course including Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Lightroom for free.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for this course you must be 19 or over on 31st August prior to the course start date.

Either the completion of the Level 2 Certificate in Photography or equivalent qualification or relevant experiences in photography at a similar level.

First Class Requirements

DSLR or Mirrorless Camera with a fully charged battery, SD card with plenty of space and tripod.

Assessment Methods

Q&A, observations, PLPs, practical sessions using specialist classroom facilities to build a body of coursework and different outcomes that incorporate new techniques and processes.
