This course will be delivered online.
This qualification is designed for learners who are looking to gain an introduction to coding.
This will likely be with a view to studying the subject at a higher level and/or seeking employment in a software development related role.
To be eligible for this course you must have at least Level 1 English skills (e.g. Functional Skills English) or equivalent. If you are not able to produce evidence of an English qualification, you will be required to take a short assessment.
To ensure this course and style of learning is suitable for you, we will also require you to complete a short course application and attend a brief [online] interview. You must have access to the necessary I.T equipment and internet service to study on this course. A PC, laptop or tablet is recommended.
Course Content

Understand Terminology Used in Coding
Understand Coding Design Principles
Understand the Processes and Practice of Coding
Understand the Importance of Communication and Project Management in Coding
Entry Requirements
To be eligible for this course you must be 19 or over on 31st August prior to the course start date.
You will be learning online through our eLearning platform but should be adequately prepared to create word processed documents to complete your assignments.

Assessment Methods
You can study at your own pace but must stick to the assessment schedule provided on the platform. Your assignments will be marked, and the feedback will give you guidance to improve your subsequent submissions.
Further Study Options
It will support the learner to progress into further study and support those interested in progressing to employment in a coding or IT related role.
On successful completion of this course you could consider Level 3 Coding Practices (online), Python PCAP, Python Programming Award Level 4 or Access to Digital technologies and Computer Science (online)

Additional Information
Upon application and successful interview you will be asked to complete an enrolment pack which is sent by the learner services team. After this you are required to complete your first assignment on the deadline.
