Unit 1: Exploring mental health – Learn what is meant by mental health and mental ill health
Section 1: Know what is meant by mental health and mental ill health
Section 2: Understand factors that may contribute to mental ill health
Section 3: Understand different types of mental ill health in individuals
Section 4: Understand what to do when someone is facing a mental health crisis
Unit 2: Understand how to support individuals with mental ill health – Learn the importance of supportive relationships
Section 1: Understand the importance of positive relationships
Section 2: Understand why a person-centred approach is important when supporting mental ill health
Section 3: Understand your own responsibilities and limits when supporting others, and how to protect your own mental health
Section 4: Understand how attitudes and perceptions of mental health affect individuals and organisations
Unit 3: Understand a mentally healthy environment – Learn about laws and how to create supportive spaces
Section 1: Know about the laws and regulations related to mental health
Section 2: Understand what makes an environment mentally healthy
Section 3: Understand why having a wellness action plan is important
Entry Requirements
To be eligible for this course you must be 19 or over on 31st August prior to the course start date.
To join this course, you need to meet the following criteria:

Have Level 1 English skills (e.g. Functional Skills English). If you don't have proof of an English qualification, you'll need to take a short assessment.
Complete a short course application and attend a brief online interview.
Have access to the necessary IT equipment and internet service (PC, laptop, or tablet recommended).
First Class Requirements
This is a distance learning course. You should have the appropriate I.T. equipment and internet service to enable you engage in distance learning and upload assignments.
Attendance Requirements
One of the benefits of distance learning is that you can work at your own pace, at a time that suits you. However, you do need plan a study schedule to help you meet the assignment deadlines.
Assessment Methods
You will submit written assignments through our learning platform. You'll have a dedicated assessor who will provide feedback and support. This course can open doors to further learning and career opportunities in mental health support.
