Course Content
Do you love theatre and discussing plays? This collaboration between The Orange Tree Theatre and RHACC is perfect for you. After seeing HEDDA by Tanika Gupta, directed by Hettie Macdonald, you'll return to the theatre set to explore the play's inspiration through writing and discussion. You can even bring your own writing inspired by the play's themes. This course will help you develop your creative writing skills and connect with fellow theatre enthusiasts.
About the Production: TANIKA GUPTA'S recent plays include Tupperware of Ashes (National Theatre), The Empress (RSC) and Lions and Tigers (Shakespeare's Globe). BAFTA-winning director Hettie Macdonald (Normal People, Howards End) returns to theatre to direct Pearl Chanda (I may Destroy You, War of the Worlds, See How They Run) in the title role.
We will focus on defining moments in the play, discuss our memories from seeing the play, or knowing Henrik Ibsen's HEDDA GABLER, the inspiration for Tanika Gupta.
References to characterisation, design, set, costumes and fragments of the script can also be explored.
We may explore our own thoughts and feelings about the play, the human relationships portrayed and how these connect to our own lived experiences.
Instance 252601: HEDDA, by TANIKA GUPTA includes a ticket for the evening performance on Wednesday 12th November 2025 at 7.30pm and participation in the Salon on Sunday 16th November 2025, 2pm - 4pm.
