We’ll give you a solid introduction to drawing and painting, providing you with the tools and techniques to practice independently. You’ll gain confidence and a foundation to progress to more advanced courses.

This course covers:
Painting and Drawing from Observation: Introduction to basic principles, focusing on line, tone, and composition.
Basic Colour Mixing: Focus on the relationship between tone and colour.
Still Life: Working from a different still life each week.
Sketching: Making small thumbnail sketches in preparation for painting.
Artist Studies: Discussion and learning from a range of artists' work.
This is a practical, hands-on course taught by an experienced tutor with real industry expertise. They will share their knowledge and skills and provide you with personalised feedback. You will work with your tutor to develop your Personal Learning Plan (PLP) to focus your learning goals and measure your progress throughout the course.
You must be 19 or over on 31st August prior to the course start date.
Some prior knowledge of art materials, tools and techniques is required to make this a more beneficial experience.

Personal Learning Plans (PLPs) will be tailored to support your progress and focus on your specific goals and development. By the end of the course, you'll have developed confidence in drawing and painting and hopefully feel inspired to progress onto another course and more ambitious work.
