Do you enjoy singing? Perhaps you're looking to rediscover your voice or explore it for the first time? The Parkshot Singers offers a welcoming and supportive environment for all. You'll gain confidence, improve your vocal skills, and enjoy the proven mental and physical benefits of singing in a choir. This course is perfect for anyone who loves to sing, regardless of experience.

Course Content

This course covers:
Warm-ups and exercises to get the voices going
Each term we look at a range of music, covering a wide variety of genres from madrigals and Romantic part-songs to arrangements from musicals and folk
This includes songs in other languages (help is given!) and songs in harmony
We also cover vocal technique such as breathing, mouth shape and vocal range
Simple musical theory in order to understand and access the music more fully
End of term informal performances at a local almshouse Chapel or in the college

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for this course you must be 19 or over on 31st August prior to the course start date.

You need to be able to read music at least a little bit.
You need to be willing to sing in different languages and in harmony.

Assessment Methods

There is no formal assessment on this course. Your tutor will assess your learning and progress through the practical nature of the classes. You'll be able to identify individual goals and reflect on your development. You may wish to progress to further practical jazz courses at Richmond Jazz School.
