Singing in the Parkshot Singers offers proven benefits to your mental and physical well-being. You will enjoy a relaxed and sociable atmosphere in a long-running choir. You will benefit from an enthusiastic and knowledgeable tutor. You will have the opportunity to suggest songs and socialise outside of class.
This course covers:
Warm-ups and exercises to get the voices going
Each term we look at a range of music, covering a wide variety of genres from madrigals and Romantic part-songs to arrangements from musicals and folk
This includes songs in other languages (help is given!) and songs in harmony
We also cover vocal technique such as breathing, mouth shape and vocal range
Simple musical theory in order to understand and access the music more fully
End of term informal performances at a local almshouse Chapel or in the college

You need to be able to read music at least a little bit.
You need to be willing to sing in different languages and in harmony.
There is no formal assessment on this course. Your tutor will assess your learning and progress through the practical nature of the classes. You'll be able to identify individual goals and reflect on your development. You may wish to progress to further practical jazz courses at Richmond Jazz School.
