Want to tell stories with your camera? This course is for intermediate and advanced photographers who want to create a photographic body of work based on a single subject. You'll explore how photography can be used to explore different themes and how a series of images can be used to construct both linear and non-linear narratives. This course will help you develop your skills and create compelling visual stories.
Course Content
This course covers:
The history of the photo essay or photo story and examples of how photographers have used the essay format to explore various themes
Producing two essays: one short photo essay and a final essay shot over the main portion of the course
Presenting and discussing new work each week as a class, aiming to complete a body of work by the end of the course
Learning the components that make up a successful photo essay
Using portraiture and abstract imagery
Editing, sequencing and discussing your work
Producing a final body of work over the course
Entry Requirements
To be eligible for this course you must be 19 or over on 31st August prior to the course start date.

This course is for intermediate and advanced photographers.
First Class Requirements
DSLR or Mirrorless Camera with a fully charged battery, SD card with plenty of space and tripod.
Assessment Methods
Your progress will be assessed through Q&A, observations, Personal Learning Plans (PLPs), and practical sessions using specialist classroom facilities. You'll build a body of coursework and explore different outcomes that incorporate new techniques and processes. We'll help you identify your next steps for continued learning.
