Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care - Level 1 Award

This course will give you an introduction to a career in adult social care working either in residential care facilities or domiciliary care.

Course Content

You will learn what it is like to work with adults in a caring capacity. Topics will include: Safeguarding, Equality and Diversity, Communication and physical care.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for this course you must be 19 or over on 31st August prior to the course start date.

The course will prepare you to undertake a level 2 qualification and is ideal for learners who need to improve their level of English

We recommend you have English skills at Entry Level 3 or above.

First Class Requirements

To help retain new information, we recommmend you come prepared to take notes during teaching and learning sessions e.g. by bringing a notebook and pen to the first class. Highlighter pens can also be useful.

Attendance Requirements

In line with college policy, 100% attendance is expected and there is a requirement to report reasons for absence to you tutor.

Assessment Methods

You will be assessed by your tutor on your written assignments and work in class. Your tutor will also assess your personal development, competencies and skills.

Further Study Options

On successful completion of this course you may wish to progress to the Level 2 Adult Social Care course or Skills for Professions in Health and Social Care course. Face to face classes and online options are available. Your tutor will be ablde to provide information and guidance.
