Why Study This Course?
When life gets tough, it’s worth having a good book to lean on. In this course, explore how reading can help us to feel calmer and cope with common problems that arise in all our lives. We will read and discuss poems and short passages by writers such as Wendy Cope, Charles Dickens, Anne Tyler and many more. This course is taught by book lover and counsellor Natasha Rozario.
We will consider how reading can be used as a quick relaxation tool and coping strategy at difficult times. We will use the chosen poems and passages to gently explore some of life's difficult problems. These will be issues we can all recognise, such as stress, loneliness and loss.
Each week in this interactive online course, we will read and discuss a few pieces of short text. The selection will feature a wide range of writers from different eras. It will include poetry, fiction and non-fiction. Discussion will take place in a group of up to 11 students. All reading materials will be provided.
