This Level 3 Award provides valuable insight into the nature and characteristics of learning disabilities. You'll learn about effective support strategies, relevant legislation, communication techniques, and person-centred planning. This course is ideal for anyone supporting individuals with learning disabilities, helping you to provide the best possible care and support.
Course Content
This course enables you to understand the context and give you tools to support individuals with learning disabilities. The course is delivered over a number of units, details of which will be provided at course induction.
Entry Requirements
To be eligible for this course you must be 19 or over on 31st August prior to the course start date.
To be eligible for this course, you must meet the following criteria:

Have a GCSE in English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above, or Functional Skills English and Maths at Level 2.
Be working with at least one person with a learning disability in an education or adult social care context.
First Class Requirements
Bring suitable note-making equipment. You might wish to bring a pad or lap top device.
Attendance Requirements
This is a qualification course and you should aim for 100% attendance at lessons.
Assessment Methods
Your tutor will assess your progress through written assignments and direct observation in your workplace (paid or volunteering role). This qualification can open doors to further learning and career advancement in the field of learning disabilities support.
Further Study Options
This course does not qualify you for work but does support you in your current job or future job roles when supporting children, young people or adults with learning disabilities.
Additional Information
You will manage your portfolio for this qualification using a digital platform. To make this easier, we recommend you have access to a suitable IT device. This will help you stay organised and track your progress throughout the course.
