Want to explore your artistic side with water-based mediums? This course lets you experiment with watercolour, acrylics, and inks, discovering different drawing and painting techniques. It's perfect for anyone who wants to develop their creativity and find their own artistic style. You'll gain confidence, learn from experienced artists, and create imaginative artwork.

Course Content

This course covers:
Approaches and Techniques: Explore and demonstrate a range of approaches and techniques to working with water-based mediums.
Artist and Style Exploration: Explore, investigate, and discuss artists and styles relating to particular exercises and projects.
Medium Usage: Learn to use a variety of different water-based mediums [Acrylic, watercolour, ink etc] and investigate their potential for drawing and painting.
Personal Project Development: Develop a personal project using water-based mediums.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for this course you must be 19 or over on 31st August prior to the course start date.

Some prior knowledge of art materials, tools and techniques is required to make this a more beneficial experience.
If you are a carer you may be entitled to support, visit our reception for assistance.

First Class Requirements

Please bring any basic drawing materials you already own to your first session. Paper is available to buy at the college.

At the start of the course the tutor will give you advice about buying materials and provide you with a materials list

Attendance Requirements

Regular attendance is beneficial.

Assessment Methods

You'll participate in informal, supportive group critiques at the end of each session, sharing your work and receiving constructive feedback. Your tutor will provide individual verbal feedback throughout the course. Personal Learning Plans (PLPs) will support your progress and help you focus on your specific goals.

Additional Information

You will need your own set of paints or inks according to which medium you prefer to use, (you do not need both acrylic and watercolour paints unless you wish it) pencil and an A4 sketchbook. Your tutor will advise you on materials in the first session, including watercolour paper or acrylic paper . Paper is available to buy in class.
