Are you a complete beginner eager to explore the world of watercolour painting? This course is designed just for you! We'll introduce you to the essential techniques needed to gain confidence and mastery of this beautiful medium. You'll learn the basics and build a strong foundation for future artistic endeavors. This course is perfect for anyone starting their artistic journey, and carers can enrol with assistance at our Parkshot reception.

Course Content

This course covers:
Drawing Exercises: Geared towards painting with watercolours, including line and shape, proportion, object and surround, composition and tonality.
Colour Mixing: Exploration of colour mixing, developing an understanding of hue, value, and saturation.
Focused Exercises: Working directly from objects in the studio and from photographs.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for this course you must be 19 or over on 31st August prior to the course start date.

Some prior knowledge of art materials, tools and techniques is required to make this a more beneficial experience.

First Class Requirements

Please bring a cartridge paper sketchbook, pencil and rubber. Also, please bring any watercolour materials and equipment you may already own. However, do not buy any prior to the start of the course before receiving advice from the tutor on e.g. suitable paint colours, brushes, palette and paper etc

Assessment Methods

Each session will conclude with informal, supportive group critiques, where you can share your work and receive constructive feedback. Your tutor will provide individual verbal feedback as you work on projects. Personal Learning Plans (PLPs) will be developed to guide your progress, tailored to your specific goals and needs.

Additional Information

You will need an A4 sketchbook and pencil. You will also need your own set of watercolour paints and brushes, and watercolour paper. Your tutor can advise you about these materials in the first session. Paper is available to buy in class.
