Writer in Residence | Jess Kidd - Beginners Writing Class

Hillcroft Campus, Surbiton, London, KT6 6DF

5 Oct 2019 - 10:00 - 16:00

Award-winning author and former RHACC student, Jess Kidd, has been confirmed as the College's first ever Writer in Residence will take effect from September 2019 and run until 2020 to mark the centenary of the former Hillcroft Women's College which became part of RHACC in October 2017. Whether you want to work on your first short story or a fledgling novel idea or are looking to restructure and revisit your work in progress, Jess breaks down the steps from initial inspiration to final edit and publication in a practical way and looks at how to get the most from your writing and the time you spend doing it!

This weekend course is designed to spark ideas through working together. But it also affords quieter, more reflective time and the opportunity to work closely with the tutor in order to set writing goals and receive personalised advice. Taking inspiration from the Arvon model, where students develop their own interests through group work and one to one sessions. The group will also work towards sharing readings on the final day - a great Arvon tradition which celebrates the voice of each writer in the group. https://www.arvon.org/
