Award-winning author and former RHACC student, Jess Kidd, has been confirmed as the College's first ever Writer in Residence will take effect from September 2019 and run until 2020. The course is open to everyone whom is inspired to become a writer.Keeping a journal is a safe, powerful and positive way for many of us to explore our thoughts and feelings. The journal has been a trusted confidante for many different writers over the years.

You will find the space, and given encouragement, to start your writing journey, wherever it will take you. In this session we will look at ways to get the most from our journal writing and to use it as a basis for the creation of original fiction, we will look at the transformative potential of the journal and how this can lead to other forms of self-expression, we will look at ways to get the most from our journal writing and to use it as a basis for the creation of original fiction. Keeping a journal is a safe, powerful and positive way for many of us to explore our thoughts and feelings. The journal has been a trusted confidante for many different writers over the years. It is a place for self-reflection that can lead not only to greater self-acceptance but also greater personal creativity.

Participants will not be required to share personal writing. We will, however, try out some great journal-based writing prompts. We will also get inspiration from some surprising examples of journals from published writings.
