RHACC unveils New Choices programme for Adults with Disabilities at Hillcroft in Surbiton

Richmond and Hillcroft Adult Community College (RHACC) unveiled an exciting new programme of courses for adults with learning difficulties and disabilities at a launch event in conjunction with Kingston Voluntary Action at its Hillcroft campus last week.
The New Choices event showcased a new range of courses at the campus which includes opportunities for employability, health and wellbeing, and independent living.
Gabrielle Flint, Principal explained how the campus in Surbiton presents exciting opportunities for adults with learning disabilities: “This event has been fantastic and allowed us to show learners, carers and organisations working with adults with disabilities, the range of supported learning courses we can offer. We already have an excellent track record of helping women to return to learning in a supported environment at Hillcroft, we are now extending this for adults with learning disabilities. We are starting with day courses this year and plan to develop a residential offer in 2019.”
Learners of all abilities gave demonstrations and participated in taster sessions which included dance, singing, printmaking, hand massage and even included a pop-up shop.
Ms Flint continued: “We are helping our learners to develop a number of vital skills for life, including communications, learning to make decisions, building independence and skills for work, as well as providing the opportunity to have fun and make friends. All of our courses are underpinned by English and Maths lessons so learners get a really well-rounded experience. We provide bursaries to help with costs and many courses are free.”
RHACC already has an outstanding reputation and long history of delivering a stimulating range of courses for adult with learning difficulties and disabilities at its Parkshot campus in Richmond and following the merger with Hillcroft College last year is now developing its provision in Kingston.
