Are you interested in learning British Sign Language (BSL) but want to try it out before committing to a full course? With an estimated 1.2 million adults in the UK experiencing significant hearing loss, BSL is a valuable skill. This short introductory course is perfect for you! You'll get a taste of the learning process and discover if BSL is right for you before committing to a longer course.

This course covers:
Sign your name
Use numbers
Greet someone
Introduce yourself
Give simple information about yourself

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for this course you must be 19 or over on 31st August prior to the course start date.

No prior experience of signing is required.
An interest in the Deaf Community and culture is important.

Attendance Requirements

Regular attendance is essential to guarantee progress.

Assessment Methods

You'll discuss your goals with the tutor, who will assess your progress through in-class observation and activities. You will record and reflect on your progress in your Professional Development Plan (PDP). On successful completion of the course, you can progress to the British Sign Language - Level 1 Award, which is a qualification course.
