Course Content

This course covers:
Moodle Resources: Learn to use online resources to support your work.
Thumbnail Sketching: Master the art of thumbnail sketching for planning your paintings.
Idea Collection: Learn to gather a range of ideas for your projects in your sketchbook.
Approach Selection: Learn to select an approach to enhance a particular idea.
Painting Techniques: Apply a wide range of new and exciting drawing & painting techniques, methods, and materials.
Personal Style: Find your personal way/style of interpreting a subject.
Group Discussion: Discuss work produced in the group.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for this course you must be 19 or over on 31st August prior to the course start date.

This class is ideal if you want to develop your existing painting skills.
It's aimed at intermediate or above levels, but enthusiastic beginners are welcome to join our Painting and Drawing classes instead.

First Class Requirements

Charcoal and soft coloured pastels

An A4 cartridge sketchbook is useful for research and notes.

Paper is available to purchase at the college

Assessment Methods

You'll receive informal, supportive group critiques at the end of each session, providing opportunities to share your work and receive constructive feedback. Your tutor will also provide individual verbal feedback as you work on projects and participate in discussions.
