This course is perfect for those with some glass experience who want to push their creative boundaries and refine their skills in a supportive environment. You'll gain confidence in your artistic vision and learn how to bring your kiln-formed glass ideas to life.

Course Content

This course covers:
Developing your ideas into glass pieces.
Working on a self-set project and discussing aims with your tutor.
Discussing your ideas and work in informal critiques with the group.
Fusing and slumping techniques.
Casting and pate de verre techniques.
Finishing techniques.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for this course you must be 19 or over on 31st August prior to the course start date.

Suitable for students who have some experience in glass.
An interest in expanding knowledge of kilnformed glass techniques.
A focus on developing your own ideas and designs further.

First Class Requirements

Bring ideas for your project ideas, as well as any tools and glass you would like to use. It is advisable that you wear workshop clothes.
Throughout the course you will need a P3 mask
There is an additional cost for materials and firings.

Assessment Methods

There is no formal assessment for this course. Your progress will be monitored through group and individual discussions, as well as observation. You will receive regular verbal feedback to help you improve and track your progress.

Additional Information

Please note there is an additional cost of approximately £50 - £100 for materials on this course
No food or drink is allowed in the studio; a hub area nearby is available for snacks and drinks.
You will be required to pay for materials used from the college and for firing.
Details will be given out at the first class, and prices will depend on materials used and the size of the work.
You may also bring in your own glass, clay, or wax, but there is no on-site storage unless purchased from the college.
Please allow 15 minutes at the end of the class to tidy up.
