Want to give your wardrobe a sustainable makeover? This course teaches you how to transform old textiles into stylish new pieces. You'll learn innovative upcycling techniques to reduce waste and create unique designs. Whether you're a beginner or have some sewing experience, this course will empower you to express your creativity and make a positive impact on the environment.

Course Content

This course covers:
Clothes making principles: Introduction to general principles and skills of clothes making using purchased patterns
Upcycling techniques: Mending and adding creative textiles such as applique, embroidery, couching and decorative stitching to upcycled clothes
Garment construction: Confidently making garments using commercial patterns and choosing fabrics and styles that complement you
Garment refitting and restyling: Skills necessary to refit purchased garments and restyle them with applique decorations or embroidery.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for this course you must be 19 or over on 31st August prior to the course start date.

All are welcome, regardless of previous experience.
Suitable for people with limited or previous experience.
You should be able to speak, read, and write in English.
Basic numeracy is an advantage, though not essential.
Enthusiasm and enjoyment from making garments for yourself or your children is beneficial.

First Class Requirements

Your pattern, fabric and any other materials you have.

Assessment Methods

We'll track your progress through your project work and participation in class.
