We’ll explore OneDrive, Outlook (Web App), Windows 10, and Microsoft Teams, covering topics such as cloud storage, email management, file organisation, and team collaboration. OneDrive
Introduction to OneDrive
- What is OneDrive, and why is it important for users?
- Key features of OneDrive.
- Sharing capabilities within OneDrive.
- Collaborating with others using OneDrive for Office files.
- Understanding the OneDrive sync app.
- Understanding cloud storage vs. local drive applications
- Uploading and downloading files
- Sharing files and setting restrictions
- Editing data within OneDrive
- Organising and managing files

Outlook (Web App)
New Features of Outlook
- Exploring recent enhancements in Outlook.

Creating Folders and Distribution Lists
- Organising emails efficiently
- Creating custom folders
- Managing distribution lists

Email Signatures and Archiving
- Setting up personalised email signatures
- Archiving emails for future reference

Compressed Files and Calendars
- Uploading and extracting compressed files
- Using Outlook calendars to schedule meetings
- Configuring Out of Office automatic replies

Windows 10 Operating System
File Management
- Moving, copying, and deleting files on the local drive.
- Understanding file types/extensions
- Adjusting the Explorer view and effectively searching for files
- Creating, compressing, and extracting files.

Microsoft Teams
Getting Started
- Navigating the Teams interface (web, desktop, or mobile).
- Finding and sharing files within Teams channels and chats.

Meetings and Screen Sharing
- Creating and joining meetings
- Sharing and recording screens

Microsoft Teams
- Creating channels in Microsoft Teams.
- Microsoft Forms within Teams for collaborative work.

Managing Assignments and Grades
- Checking assignments and classwork
- Monitoring grades

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for this course you must be 19 or over on 31st August prior to the course start date.

You will need to have enough English (at a minimum of Level 1 equivalent) to communicate clearly with the tutor and participate in classroom discussions.

On a computer you will need to be able to:
- Use a keyboard, mouse, and computer with confidence.
- Open a new document, save, and file it in a folder.
- Use the internet effectively to research and download information.
- Have a basic understanding of all software taught on the course.

Ideally you will have already completed EDSQ L1, Office Skills Certificate Level 1, or previous courses using Office software. We will however consider past practical experience.

First Class Requirements

Pen, paper, and a memory stick for saving work electronically.

Attendance Requirements

You must attend every session to make the most out of this course and to obtain a certificate of completion. If you are absent for a reason that is unavoidable, please contact your tutor directly.

Assessment Methods

Assessment Methods
The modules are taught so that you gain knowledge of best practice and are able to evaluate the use of IT so that your work practices are efficient.

The methods of teaching are:
- Classroom based with work related material
- Group work and Pair work
- One to One support and careers advice
- Class tasks

A college certificate of completion is gained by producing a PLP (Personal Learning Plan) and portfolio which is produced from class-based exercises with ongoing feedback provided by the tutor.

Further Study Options

Progression to IT courses at RHACC in IT software including Office Skills, Business administration, Social media, Marketing, and Computer Hardware. See website for further information and availability.

Additional Information

Students can gain access to a free Microsoft 365 license by becoming a RHACC student.
