I had been attending Jazz vocal classes, but wanted to learn more about theory and to develop my piano playing, so I joined Jazz Rhythm Section Workshop. The quality of the teaching staff is top notch! It's a privilege to be guided by such accomplished musicians.

I have a lot of fun! Some of us have created a band called The Raccateers, so we get together and rehearse. We are planning a gig this autumn at The Bull's Head in Barnes, where lots of famous jazz musicians have played. We also play in RACC concerts and in the Saturday lunchtime jam sessions at the College.

If you're thinking about doing a jazz course – go for it! Come along one Saturday lunchtime or to one of our concerts. You will see people at all levels taking part. One thing I find really inspiring is watching absolute beginners muster their courage to perform. It shows what you can do if you just take the first step.

Why not give it a try? You get out what you put in, but it's multiplied by the teaching and by interacting with your fellow students.
