Pilates Foundations (for beginners)

Are you looking to improve your posture and movement? Pilates is a mindful and intelligent exercise approach that can help you understand your body better. You will learn how to understand your body's posture, balance, capabilities, limitations and normal movement strategies. This course is perfect for beginners who want to improve their alignment and movement control.

Course Content

This course covers:
Your first lesson will involve an initial assessment of your mobility and you will also be given a brief introduction to the history of Joseph Pilates
How to use correct breathing techniques during exercise
Exercise to strengthen your core muscles
Learning how to use muscles efficiently
Toning the body as a whole and Relaxation

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for this course you must be 19 or over on 31st August prior to the course start date.

You should be reasonably healthy and mobile.

First Class Requirements

Mats are provided by the college - but please bring a towel and wear loose, comfortable clothing.

Assessment Methods

The tutor will work where possible on a one to one basis to assess your skills and give advice on how to improve. This course will give you a solid foundation in Pilates, and you can then progress to more advanced classes.
