I love taking pictures because it allows me to capture the moment I am in and eternalise it. Photos, especially printed ones, are for me like a time capsule that can take me back in time to relive a moment as though I was experiencing it for the first time. I also love taking pictures as they act as a diary for myself, capturing both the good and bad that I experience. Although we should always focus on the positive aspects within life I do feel that we can learn from the bad experiences also and they should never be forgotten as these experiences build us just as much and help define who we really are.
I was first fascinated by photography when I was a small kid and would sit surrounded by what felt like hundreds of family photos, black and whites from before I was born, colourful pictures of my childhood and more. This drove a curiosity in me to see as much as I could of the world as it was clearly a big one and while seeing it, documenting my experiences as I went.
In regards to the future, I feel i’m fairly comfortable with landscape photography and I would like to specifically look into how to push this further, however, if given the chance I would also like to look into portrait photography or more … photography of people to tell an interesting story. An example of such a photographer would be someone like Corey Richards with National Geographic.
Travel Ghost - This photo is both showing how special travelling in my life is to me and the adverse effects this year has sometimes had on me. Travelling is a very magical time for me as I get to take in new places/ cultures and its always an amazing adventure from the very beginning. During lockdown I can honestly say these pictures were the only things that kept me sane at times.
Moments of Joy - This image was part of a task to create several documentary images during the lock-down. This showed how I found joy in hard times through the pictures from past trips exploring the world.
Darkness - This image was part of a portrait shot made with available light. I really like this shot as the blacks from my silhouette seamlessly merge with the background giving it a very abstract and 2D feel.
Bus 93 - This is my favorite light painting shot, the neon effect from the bus gives the image a very 80's vibe as though its from the decade of neon.
Tree of Life - In this final shot I really liked how the tree was reflected in the water, it really gave the impression of there being two worlds in front of me and also the lighting was really nice at this time of day. Also this shot goes to show how you can find cool photographs not so far from home as this was a short 10 min drive from my flat!
Buddha Temple - London is one of the World's Most Cosmopolitan Cities and it's home to 270 nationalities and one if the testaments to this is this small Buddha temple hidden in the secret garden.
