"I joined the Richmond Jazz School (RJS) at RACC in September 1997 as a student on the Jazz Vocal classes at the time as I wanted to get back into singing after a substantial time away to have kids. I knew nothing about jazz, having studied Classical singing at Uni , so it was a big learning curve for me. From the very beginning I knew it was something I wanted to learn, and at the RACC there was such a fantastic team of teachers and classes to learn from that I just kept turning up each term to learn more and more!

I also learned jazz piano there under Kate Williams within the Jazz Piano classes and being classically trained it was something else I hadn't done before.

Having also studied at Goldsmiths College where I achieved my first teaching qualification I was in a position to take a leap into teaching adult classes at RACC and began a new courses called Singing From Scratch with I continued to teach for 5 years.

My teaching within Richmond Jazz School began in 2010 when I took over the class 'Introduction to Jazz Singing'. This continues to be one of the most popular singing courses at RJS and is a course I love to teach, identifying closely with the journey the new RJS students are embarking on as my own journey has taken me full circle.

Now I mainly perform with my jazz funk band -the Wendy Linsey band, also my a cappella trio The Decibelles and The SoulTrippers - a Motown and soul band sing and also regularly in various jazz trios. Without the support and nurturing from the RACC and, in particular, the RJS none of this would have been possible."
