Tutor Profiles

Barrie is the lead tutor for the School of Ideas. Educated at Hackney Downs School and Sussex University he is a highly respected Adult Educationalist specializing in philosophy and literature. Barrie is the Chair of the Portcullis Trust, a charity which supports adult learning in Richmond.

Jessica Feely, is in her third year of research at the Centre of Research in Modern European Philosophy at Kingston University. Her special interest is on the concept of history in the philosophy of Theodor W. Adorno. Prior to this she did her BA and MPhil Stud in philosophy at UCL. “My interests include: 19th and 20th century European Philosophy (esp. Hegel, Marx), Frankfurt School Critical Theory (esp. Adorno, Horkheimer), philosophies of history and time, postcolonial theory, literary theory, and feminist theory.

Kate took a 1st class degree in Literature and Religious Studies from the University of Edinburgh, during which time she wrote a prize-winning essay on Kant’s Critique of Pure Reason. From there, she went on to teach senior school English and Drama for two years before completing an MPhil in Christian Theology at the University of Cambridge, supervised by Dr Rowan Williams.

Natasha's work reflects a deep interest in wellbeing and language. As well as being a graduate in Philosophy & Literature, she is a qualified counsellor, with a first-class honours degree in Integrative-Relational Counselling. As part of her professional development, she learnt how to use literature to improve mental health, while exploring the therapeutic effects of poetry and how writing can enhance wellbeing.

Paul has been teaching at RHACC since 2012 having originally graduated with a BA in History from Sheffield University. His classes aim to bring his own enthusiasm and passion for history to others and help people to have a better understanding of the world today through the past. He describes himself as a Later Modern Historian at heart but also retains a fascination for the Romans.
