Painting and Drawing
Want to unlock your inner artist? This course gives you a solid foundation in painting and drawing through engaging exercises. You'll explore various themes each term, from still life to portraiture and landscapes. Learn to "see" like an artist, plan compositions and master colour theory. Perfect for all skill levels, this course will boost your confidence and help you express your unique creativity. Join us and discover the joy of painting and drawing!
Sewing Classes
This Course is a series of 3 hour lessons for beginners. You will be shown how to thread up and use the sewing machine and join in the group projects in each course.
There are 2 different 5 or 6 week courses available each term, and they change every term so that you can cover a wide variety of projects throughout the year:
Autumn Term:
Part 1 - making a cushion cover and a large tote bag - 5 weeks
Part 2 - making an A line skirt- 6 weeks
Spring Term:
Part 3 - making a pair of elasticated/ drawstring trousers or shorts - 5 weeks
Part 4 - making a top - 6 weeks
Summer Term:
Part 5 - making a simple dress - 5 weeks
Part 6 - revisiting any previous projects or working on your own chosen project - 6 weeks
You do not need to take all of the courses but taking a selection would help you to easily progress before moving on to an intermediate course. Absolute beginners Upholstery Class - 1 Day Course
The course is a basic introduction to the joys of upholstery, learning some simple techniques and an understanding of what materials are used in that chair you’re sitting on.
Digital Photography - Intermediate
Want to take your photography to the next level? If you are an eligible Carer, this course is for you! This intermediate course will give you a deeper understanding of exposure, helping you become comfortable using your camera in manual mode. You'll also explore composition techniques to make better creative choices when taking photographs.
Bicycle Mechanics Level 2 Award
The City & Guilds Level 2 Cycle Maintenance Course is a professional qualification for those who know the basics but want to improve their bike maintenance skills to an industry standard. It is for anyone wanting to work or seeking progression in the cycle industry by gaining an accredited bicycle mechanic qualification to put on their CV. Each module of the course consists of a theory session, a tutor demonstration, an opportunity for learners to practice techniques and concludes with an assessed practical and written theory test. This course will also suit cycling instructors, community group leaders and cycling enthusiasts wishing to formalise cycle maintenance skills.
