Using IT at College
You’ll find PC suites across the college, including in classrooms and our Learning Resource Centre. You’re also very welcome to bring your own laptop or tablet to work on while you’re here.
Free WiFi is available throughout our campus, and we have helpful staff on hand if you need a bit of support getting set up.
Free WiFi for Students and Staff
We recommend you connect to Eduroam – our main college WiFi service. It’s fast, secure and made especially for students and staff.
How to connect to eduroam (important – you now need the app)
To connect, you’ll need your college email address and college password, and your device must have a PIN/passcode set up.
On a phone or tablet (Android / iPhone / iPad)
- Make sure you have internet access to download the app (use mobile data, or ask a member of staff about our guest WiFi).
- Download the Geteduroam app from the Play Store or App Store.
- Open the app and search for Richmond – then select Richmond and Hillcroft Adult and Community College.
- Choose the profile RHACC Students (learners) or RHACC Staff (staff).
- Sign in with your college email address and college password, then tap Connect to Network.
- Once it says WiFi is configured, you’re ready – your device should connect automatically from then on.
Top tip: Don’t delete the app afterwards – it stores the secure WiFi configuration you need.
On a laptop (Windows / Mac)
- Windows (8 or later): Download and run the Geteduroam app, search for Richmond, select Richmond and Hillcroft Adult and Community College, choose your profile, then sign in with your college email and password.
- Mac: Use the eduroam setup tool (the “Eduroam Configuration Assistant Tool”), download the installer for Mac, then sign in with your college email and password when prompted.
If you change your college password: you’ll need to set up eduroam again on your device.
Visitors and Guests
If you’re visiting and don’t have access to Eduroam, you can still get online using our Guest WiFi (Events & Hires). Please ask a member of staff for the password.
Please note: WiFi Guest has limited speed and is best for basic browsing or checking email.
Digital Tools for Learning
To join your classes or complete assignments online, you’ll need to access the following:
- Your College Email
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Moodle – our online learning platform
- Microsoft Teams – for remote classes and tutor support
